And you will love the clean spaces so will want it all stacked away neatly. I bet those cubes are really clutter too!!!!Gypsyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14507297241750333316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8092410187415328435.post-26986435013861769012010-05-23T03:42:37.913-07:002010-05-23T03:42:37.913-07:00Gypsy, cool! I've started to think these famous cubes are becoming clutter as I have so many empty ones.

One thing I must avoid is getting lazy about storage - as shelves become empty I'm less efficient about stacking.@miniMumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01674849552434945776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8092410187415328435.post-21623544321146093432010-05-23T01:49:29.136-07:002010-05-23T01:49:29.136-07:00Well done you! A couple of things that work for me

- eliminate storage spaces - so we have recently sold a couple of cube storage units and are currently selling our wall unit in the dining room. This gives us very few places for stuff to accumulate.

- have a '30 day' list of things you want to buy. So I keep a spiral notebook with purchases I want to make, and have to wait till the next month to buy them. Amazing how much it stops you buying. Plus, I buy virtually nothing new, so I have to hunt out stuff (google the story of stuff for motivation)

- keep a donation box in the laundry to add to as I see things I can give to the op shop - and pop it up when its full

- encourage people to give clutter-free presents and give the same - organic chocolates and wine, flowers etc are great. With the kids I have a 'regifting box' and I sneak things in there after parties and Christmas before they even notice.

Good luck!Gypsyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14507297241750333316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8092410187415328435.post-22363248068796268772010-05-23T01:44:55.093-07:002010-05-23T01:44:55.093-07:00Mostly, I have a don't spend money because it ...Mostly, I have a don't spend money because it hurts policy :-) I've always been a bit like that.

You can also apply "do I love it? do I need it?" to everything that comes in the house. And I have a post developing on gifts as well, because we all need help there.

Some junk will reappear and you can't help it...because today's important paper is next month's junk.

But it's funny and true - clutter attracts clutter. If you can clear a surface, you are much less likely to put something down on it.

You may need to analyse WHY your clutter piles are where they are. Your surroundings reflect your actions. So you get in the door with stuff and then...@miniMumhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01674849552434945776noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8092410187415328435.post-18111423356593211242010-05-23T00:20:10.181-07:002010-05-23T00:20:10.181-07:00Very good work. Do you have a "something in, something out" policy?LoopyNZhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10458094105467656719noreply@blogger.com
